Confesso que nunca me tinha ocorrido. Talvez seja algo semelhante o que passa pela cabeça da Administração de Bush. O que importa se, com esta doutrina de “seek and destroy”, se esteja a minar o futuro do diálogo entre a cultura ocidental e o mundo muçulmano, se facilite o recrutamento de novos terroristas, se incremente a radicalização do discurso dos fundamentalistas; que importa se nos próximos anos a Al Qaeda tornar o mundo um lugar impossível? Dentro de algum tempo vem o Juízo Final, tudo isto acaba, e os justos [os que combatem este ou aquele eixo do mal] serão salvos. Genial, absolutamente genial. Nem a metafísica é imune ao pragmatismo do american way. Genial, simplesmente genial.
