Raul Iturra, meu antigo professor e figura incontornável no processo de desenvolvimento da Antropologia em Portugal, aqui deixou na caixa de comentários o seu penhorado testemunho sobre Jill Dias. Está assim:
I dare say to have been a personal friend of Rosemary and husband Alberto, or Jill Dias as every one says. Professor Jill Dias not only knew how to teach aswell as how to write, but knew very well to be a discrete friend, a good colleague with a beutiful mind, as clear as all the books she wrotte for us, a large masterpiece which will keep Prof. Jill Dias alive. She is now alonside her Mother and her Husband, with sparkling blue eyes, taking care of us. Both Jill and Alberto helped me to organize our Department of Anthropology at ISCTE. We have not lost a friend, we have won an angel on earth flying into Eternity. An Eternity which is already in our libraries and in the mind of hundreds of Anthropologists in Portugal and in the UK.
I have already said that we have not lost a friend, we have won a dear friend who is going to be with us for all eternity on her clever books, her clear explanations to the minds of several new Anthropologists in Portugal and the UK. She has already entered Eternity through her discretion, always smiling face and her devotion to our science. As former President of the Portuguese Association of Anthropologists - APA - which she supported very much and as founder of the Department of Social Anthropology at ISCTE, I feel to need to say that there have not been Department at ISCTE, had it not her foundation be supported by the former Under Secretary of Education in 1983, Prof. Alberto Romão Dias and her wife Rosemary (Jill) Dias. An innate worker, she lives now in the inmensity of her research, materialized in very many books as in our minds and souls. A Viva Jill Dias is convenient to express over here.

É evidente que a minha testemunha para o leitor de Portugal, com dificuldades de ler em inglés,deve ser em portugês. Referia eu que Maryrose Jill e Alberto Romão Dias, foram pessoas que nos ajudaram a organizar o nosso Departamento de Antropologia no ISCTE. Jill Dias faleceu como viveu: a trabalhar e em dias prévios ao Día do Trabalhador, comemorado a 1 de Maio após matança de operários en Chicago ao começo do Século XX. Esse día vitimou, praticamente, a Prof. Jill Dias.No entanto, essa entrada a eternidade fica patente e material na sua imensa obra escrita sobre a África ex-lusófona, na memória dos seus estudantes de todo tipo de graus e no saber que transferia aos que com ela falavam. Doce e calma, não temos perdido uma amiga, temos ganho ume eternidade que fica na nossa memória material de trocas com ela e na sua obra toda. Escrevo esta testemunha no bloge de um antigo discípulo meu, também Antropólogo, o primeiro a abrir este espaço para uma Rosemary Jill Dias, porque entende e sabe da nossa ciência, que também aprendeu com a nossa eterna amiga.
